This is the time of year I love getting out with the kids. We’re just getting out of the spring snow and rain, the weather’s getting warmer, and we’re all itching to get outside in the fresh air.
It’s the time of year we do a lot of hiking and exploring and getting outdoors — and hopefully we’ll be doing a lot more as the weather continues to warm up. We’re going out to get supplies to make our summer nature journals soon, so we’ll need to get out to fill those up as well!
So when we had a beautiful sunny day yesterday, we headed to the park. We did a little climbing, and walked down near the creek, and ran around on the grass.
Yep. Even the dog.
Here are a few things we like to take on our outdoor adventures:
- water bottles
- nature journals (you can take them hiking and on road trips, but it’s also fun to bring them along to the park and see what you find in your own neighborhood!)
- colored pencils (for writing and drawing in the journals)
- sturdy shoes for running and climbing
- a lunch or snacks
My kids loved trying Crunchkins for a treat after playing at the park yesterday. They’re dessert-flavored poppers that are coated on the outside, with a crunchy center.
They come in three flavors — Birthday Cake, Fudge Brownie, and Glazed Donut. We got a share pack, which has all three flavors in one pack. I think the favorite in this family was the Fudge Brownie, but everyone agreed all of the Crunchkins were quite tasty. And they’re just the right size to bring along a few packages for the kids to share at the end of all their hard work running and playing.
You can find Crunchkins in Walmart stores at checkout.
Here’s to outdoor adventures!
