It’s that time of year, again! Pumpkin time! And apple time! And leaf-color-turning time! And 31 days of writing stuff time! I do love fall. But since it seems to be the bridge from back-to-school chaos to holiday chaos, I thought it might be nice to do a month of connecting. I’m thinking specifically of […]
The Birthday Milkshake Recipe
So I try not to divulge too much personal info on here about people who are not me. But I can’t help it — I need to share one teensy, but totally bizarre, bewildering, Very Weird Quirk of my husband’s. He’s not a cake guy. I know. I just…I can’t even…I don’t know…hmph. The kids and […]
Weekend Odds & Ends
(This post contains affiliate links). Well, hi there. Hello. And, if you’re in the States, a happy Labor Day weekend to you! Here in Colorado (Broncos country), we celebrate today the even more sacred holiday — Fantasy Football Draft Day. People are serious, I’m telling you. I have a friend who’s throwing a party and […]
10 Reasons to Buy Extra Back to School Supplies
So we just got back from two weeks at the lake and it feels like summer is finally underway and we’re kicking back, reading, chilling, in our groove…and all the stores have the hangy cardboard pencil decoration-thingys up and the back to school sales already. I’m so not ready for this. On the plus side, the […]
Bubble Fun With Household Objects
Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles! The kids had some bubble fun yesterday, in the backyard, on a whim. We didn’t have any special bubble blowers. We didn’t have any fancy bubble soap with glycerin and all that stuff you need for huge awesome bubbles. We had dish soap and kitchen utensils. They loved it.
Weekend Odds & Ends
We’re gearing up around here for another road trip — wahoo! Two weeks by the lake and the mountains where the kids have exactly three things on their list: swim in the lake; swing in the hammock; and go for ice cream. I think we can manage that.
11 Things to Do With Kids (At Home)
I think I’m a traveler by nature. I’m a road-tripper, for certain — a lover of car excursions both long (like weeks) and short (we like driving 3-4 hours in a day to visit stuff around here). But sometimes? We just need to sit and stay put. I have to wash everyone’s underwear and read the […]
The Fairy Garden
So after a wee break last week to attend to the end of the school year…and to the first patient here requiring a cast (I figure one cast after 11 years and four kids is a pretty good record by OSHA standards, yes?)…we’re back and ready to start our summer. One of the first orders […]
Weekend Odds & Ends: Kids Activities
I’m getting ready to run this on Monday. People have called it the best 10k in the country, and I agree it’s pretty fun. But I’m totally not ready for it. I say this every time and somehow I always manage to finish but this time I mean it. The guy who always runs in a gorilla […]
37 Free Summer Activities for Kids
My kids tell me they have 18 days of school left until they’re out for summer. I can’t wait, actually. I’m ready to sleep in…and to hit the road for some day trips…and to play in the dirt and stuff.
