I love this verse. And it seemed fitting in a month talking about connecting…and love…and stuff. The printable is here, if you want one. This post is part of a series on connecting simply with your kids. You can read more of the series here. Thank you for visiting Peace but Not Quiet! […]
Play Hide & Seek.
My neck still hurts from this. Also that’s a beer homebrewing kit because I think it’s classy to hide behind booze from little children. A very fun game, though, especially when you play with kids little enough that they can’t wait for you to find them and inevitably jump out and yell, “Here I am!” before […]
Play Outside.
I love hanging with my kids outside. On a very practical note, no one is messing up my stuff. Noise is not as noisy, because it’s not echoing off the four walls of my house. Everyone spends a lot of energy and is nice and sleepy when we get home.
You. Are. Loved.
I don’t often make my own printables. But I liked the idea of having “You. Are. Loved.” in lots of different languages all in one place.
Play Cards.
Playing cards is just a simple, fun way to enjoy a few minutes with the family. Cards don’t take up much room, so we always bring them along on road trips and campouts. They don’t have lots of pieces to keep track of. Just easy fun.
Breakfast for Dinner (Simple Traditions.)
Thanks to Hillshire BrandsTM for sponsoring this post! Every Friday night at our house is Breakfast For Dinner Night. It started when my oldest was little, just as a way to make dinner a little easier and to kick off the weekend with something out of the ordinary. One week my husband wasn’t home, and my […]
Don’t Interrupt.
I have a confession that embarrasses me. I interrupt my kids. Like, all the time. They just tell such long stories, about people at school I don’t know…or things that happened at lunch I don’t understand…or stories they’ve made up which have no real ending ever. Sometimes it’s necessary to interrupt, like when the bell rings and they […]
Road Trips.
I do love family road trips. The singing. The bizarre story-telling and joke-telling. Even the bickering. It all makes for great memories. When we travel as a family now, we pretty much only go by car. There are enough of us that we’d not only have to buy six plane tickets (!!?!), but rent a […]
Kids’ Choice.
Today’s idea for connecting with kids is courtesy of my friend Jodie. Jodie has four young children, like me, which means she finds the same delight in a solo trip to the grocery store and also has a purse full of toy cars/crayons/used tissues/things that have been pulled out of people’s noses. Though that last […]
Go Bird Watching.
Now that it’s getting colder out, I find us doing more bird watching. The birds get hungry, and if you’re one of the houses generously feeding them you become very popular with the birds. Here in Colorado, where most available water freezes, even putting out a birdbath with fresh water attracts lots of birds.
