So talking about summer reading got me thinking about the best books we’ve read around here, which inspired me to make a list. Today — our favorite baby books.
1.) Good Night Gorilla by Peggy Rathmann — about a mischievous gorilla (aren’t they all?) who causes trouble when the zookeeper locks up for the night
2.) Tails by Matthew van Fleet — sturdy lift-the-flaps and pull-tabs that babies can’t easily destroy. And cute animals that go well beyond your standard zebras and lions.
3.) Discovery Kids Touch and Feel Farm Animals — or Touch and Feel Zoo Animals…or Touch and Feel anything.
4.) Snowballs by Lois Ehlert — about making snowmen…and snowmoms…and snowboys.
5.) Winter Friends by Carl R. Sams II and Jean Stoick — amazing photography of animals in the woods, preparing for winter. Any of their books are beautiful.
6.) The Going to Bed Book by Sandra Boynton. Or anything by Sandra Boynton. She’s just funny.
We have all of the above as board books but they’re also available as picture books. Though I wouldn’t leave a picture book with a baby. They realllllly like the noise made by a nice long paper rip.
