I love hanging with my kids outside. On a very practical note, no one is messing up my stuff. Noise is not as noisy, because it’s not echoing off the four walls of my house. Everyone spends a lot of energy and is nice and sleepy when we get home.
But it’s also a less controlled environment. You find more things — bugs, animals, leaves, sticks. Lots of stuff to explore.
I find it’s best not to have too much of an agenda when you’re outdoors with little kids. They don’t care about finishing a hike, necessarily, or seeing what you’re interested in seeing. Let them find stuff on their own. Look at the bugs and other things they find. Just enjoy. Here are a few suggestions:
