You Have Permission to Do Nothing

You Have Permission to Do Nothing

Today is our first day of Spring Break. I’ve been reading articles and seeing things on Pinterest — ideas for crafts and outings. Advice for taking road trips. I had all kinds of things in mind. And today? We didn’t do much of anything.

I struggle with this as a blogger. I like sharing the fun things we do, and I hope maybe sometimes other people read them and try them out and have a good time as well. But I don’t want to give anyone the impression that we do these things every day. Just like I don’t share Instagram pictures of me brushing my teeth or paying my mortgage — most of what I share on the blog is highlights, with the mundane left out. Who wants to read that we slept in, and had eggs, and watched cartoons (gasp! Screen Time!), and took apart the broken dryer?

But that’s what we did. And painted the fence with water. And painted the dog with water (don’t pity him — he’s a lab who loves water and hates being left out.)

And it was a good day (except for the part about the dryer. Sigh.)

Hi, there!

Hi, there!

Welcome! I'm Laura -- a mom of four kids aged thirteen and under. I run occasionally and love really bad puns.
