I revamped my snowflake knitting pattern. I went back and knit it again, and changed a few measurements and stitch counts (just a little — the old one will still work, but I like this one better).

This is a sponsored post for Monster High through Womensforum.com. All opinions are mine. My daughters and I were recently offered a chance to get a sneak peek at a new movie, Monster High: Haunted. We made some popcorn, grabbed the blankets and retired to our private screening room. Or the basement…same thing, right?
This is the time. This very week we are midway through winter. And I’ve got the winter blues. I always start the season well — excited about hot cocoa and flannel jammies and sitting under thick blankets while the snow falls. But by the time we get to February, I can get a little surly. […]
I don’t want to give you the wrong idea. I do NOT make presents for everyone on my Christmas list. Good heavens. It’s easy to see articles suggesting recipes and patterns and ideas for homemade Christmas gifts and to assume these people make all their presents. And maybe some of them do. Most of us make […]
(This post may contain affiliate links.) At our house, there’s no such thing as “too old for a Christmas stocking.” Parents, kids, grandparents — everyone gets a stocking. We fill them with fun, little, inexpensive presents, candy, and — always, because it’s tradition, an orange in the toe. Kid stocking stuffers are fun to […]
Thanks to Hillshire BrandsTM for sponsoring this post! Every Friday night at our house is Breakfast For Dinner Night. It started when my oldest was little, just as a way to make dinner a little easier and to kick off the weekend with something out of the ordinary. One week my husband wasn’t home, and my […]
Every year, before our summer road trip, I take all the kids to pick out yarn for fall and winter sweaters. And it cracks me up because you can see each one of their personalities in what they pick. One insists on Purple Sparkly yarn…made into a dress not a sweater, naturally. One doesn’t really care and will […]
I know. If we’re going to get technical, fall won’t be here for a few more weeks yet. But anything post-Labor Day feels fall-ish and since it’s my favorite season, I’m getting started on it a little early. Said the lady who starts playing Christmas music as soon as the kids get home from trick-or-treating. […]
Welcome to Nature Week! We’re spending a week on tips for getting outside with kids which, I’m hoping, will lead to a spring and summer filled with outdoor adventures (around here, just getting there can be an adventure. We take our thrills where we can get them.) And so today — what to bring when hiking […]
It’s wrong, isn’t it, to admit that my husband and I already have plans for the kids’ rooms when they move out? Especially when the oldest is only eleven? In the meantime, we’ve tried to carve out little spaces for ourselves in the basement. My husband’s is a corner filled with junk vintage office furniture. I have […]
