My husband and I got an espresso maker for our wedding almost 15 years ago. It was a marvelous machine and we would get up late on Saturdays and spend the morning making and drinking our lattes together. Then we had kids and now, after 11 years of not sleeping, our leisurely barista drinks have given way to mainlining coffee and dumping caffeine down our gullets as fast as possible.
So when I pulled out the espresso maker the other day, the kids were intrigued. I made them each a steamer after school and they insisted we do this more often. We really should. (Good news — if you don’t have an espresso maker, this $2 doohickey from Ikea works just as well)
2 tsp brown sugar
1 tsp nutmeg
1 shake ground cinnamon
Mix sugar and spices in a small bowl. Froth 1 mug of milk using either espresso maker or handheld frother. Stir in mix, reserving a small amount to sprinkle on top.
