We’re leaving tomorrow afternoon on our 1,100 mile road trip. Except for having scarfed down everything perishable in the house, I’m nowhere near ready. Also, I don’t know what we’ll eat for the next 24 hours.
I do know what I’m putting in each of the kids’ goody bags, which is a start…and also leaves only one person left who needs to be entertained. Meeeeee!!! (My husband considers driving his entertainment, with occasional naps and light reading when we switch off. I’m much more high maintenance.)
Since I’m both a knitter and a procrastinator, I’m bringing along three or four of the twenty-hundred and two unfinished projects I have sitting around. Last year I threw the yarn, needles, and other knitting accoutrements into one giant bag and then spent about 500 miles trying to find a size 6 needle. So this year, I’m trying this:
I’ve got the yarn and needles for my project all bagged together, along with a photocopy of the pattern so I don’t have to bring along any knitting books. I put scissors, my yarn needle and other general knitting stuff that I’ll need for each project in the first bag. And now I can throw it in my carrying bag and not have to hunt everywhere for things (or freak out
if when someone spills something on my bag.)
I got so carried away, I packaged up my Nook with its charging cables as well.
Since I’m keeping my cell phone and camera out to use, I’ll probably throw their accompanying cables in the same bag.
I’m adding a few magazines that I never buy when I’m home (I read them at the library) as a special treat.
And I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if a bag of M&Ms ends up in there after my Target snack run tonight.
I think I’m actually looking forward to this drive now.
