Lacy Sweater

August 16, 2013 By Laura 7 Comments

So while at my Happy Place this summer, I bought myself some Rowan Handknit Cotton yarn to use for a sweater for my girl. Cotton yarn is so easy to work with and I was surprised at how quickly this knit up.

The pattern is from Zoe Mellor’s Adorable Knits for Tots and look at it. Adorable.

The one thing I’ve learned during my brief time as a sweater knitter is the importance of measuring. The girl you see here is 2 1/2. I knit this using the measurements for a six-month old baby, and lengthened the sleeves and torso. And since the yarn is 100% cotton, I’m definitely handwashing this in cold water every time.

The flower is the showstopper, but really I love the diagonal lace around the bottom. And the sleeves! These are my favorite sleeves. I might knit them onto every sweater I make.

A fashionable sweater for birdwatching…

…and squirrel-chasing.

My ravelry notes are here.

Thank you for visiting Peace but Not Quiet! I’d love it if you’d like me on facebook and follow me on twitter.

Great job on the darling sweater! Love the color and design! I am a knitter too but haven’t knitted for a couple of years I made a lot of sweaters in order to stay awake when reading some dry text books! It is a good idea that you measured!

I was amazed — it fit perfectly. I can’t knit and read, though…that takes talent!
