Eight years ago, we moved 1100 miles — away from family and friends and the state where my husband and I were born and grew up. We now have friends here in Colorado and we see our families throughout the year, but not always over the holidays. And they miss out on things like concerts and plays and the kids just goofing off. So I’m loving this Vidoozi app, that allows us to make videos to share on social media or email to our loved ones.
My oldest son enjoys making videos. He makes long involved stop-action Lego movies, and videos with his siblings that they find hilariously funny and I don’t get at all. So when I assigned him to make us a video using Vidoozi, he was all over it.
They held a dress rehearsal…post-production meetings…they storyboarded…they went a little over the top.
But the good news is — you don’t have to do that with the app. It’s simple. Easy. I’d say “so simple my kids can do it,” but that means nothing. Instead I’ll say, “so simple, even I can do it,” since I’m way less tech-savvy than my children. You simply download the app on your iPhone (or download the iPhone app on your iPad. Did you know you could do that? See? Another thing my kids had to teach me) and follow the prompts. Pick out a greeting, or use one they provide, record a 15-second video or use one you already have, add in five pictures, add a second video, and pick an ending. You can also choose a soundtrack to play under your video, which I think makes it feel a little more polished. All in all, a simple, fun way to record a holiday greeting to send to friends and family.
The app also has options for other occasions — birthdays, other holidays, thank yous, invitations — lots of fun, unique ways to send greetings to people.
And now — the grand finale. The culmination of an entire afternoon’s worth of planning and producing and blood, sweat, and tears. Click here to see our Vidoozi video.
