Our neighborhood has an annual 4th of July bike parade — all the kids decorate their bikes and ride down the street following a fire engine…I love it. This year we decided to make matching shirts, because — fortunately — none of my kids are quite old enough to be embarrassed by that yet. Not that that’s going to stop me.
I picked up the shirts for $3.49 apiece at Hobby Lobby — Michael’s also has solid-color shirts for about the same price. And I used three kinds of fabric paint — Tulip’s Soft Fabric Paint Matte in “Crimson” and “Glacier White Matte,” and Scribbles’ Dimensional Fabric Paint in “Shiny White.”
I put the liquid paint in bowls and got plenty of wet rags to wipe hands clean. The paint wipes off if wet and peels off if it dries — but definitely wear old clothes and stay away from carpets. It doesn’t come off of fabrics easily (which I suppose is the whole point.)
