I know. Not at all impressive, grocery shopping. Who bonds over groceries?
I’m not even specifically talking about grocery shopping. I’m talking about running any errands. We have four kids. Whenever Mom or Dad take just one kid anywhere with them, it’s pretty special. Home Depot. The yarn store. Grocery shopping. The point isn’t the destination. The point is one-on-one time. Where you can talk without siblings interrupting you. Where maybe your parents talk to you like you’re a little older. Where, maybe, while you’re shopping your dad lets you decide what we should have for dinner. Special time. Over groceries.
