OK, these are one of my favorite purchases this summer:
They’re Prepara Ice Pop Molds and they’re quite exciting because they have a cutout (a freeze-out? They freeze with a hole in the middle). This means, of course, that you can fill the outside with deliciously bad-for-you popsicle recipes and then fill the middle with complimentary bad-for-you fillings and eat the whole thing. Yeay!
We tried plain old instant chocolate pudding from a mix for our first batch of pops. We made up the pudding, poured it in the molds and froze it overnight.
We ran the molds under hot water for a few seconds to loosen up the pops, took them out and filled the middle with whipped cream.
Dang, they were yummy!
Imagine the potential — frozen fruit juice with real fruit in the middle…various frozen puddings with chocolate in the middle…frozen juice with adult beverages in the middle…
I actually bought some popsicle molds last year. And although they were cheap, they ended up being a waste of money because the popsicles got stuck in the molds and the holders popped out with no sicles on them and it was a sad, icy mess. So this year I splurged (a whopping $10) and bought these molds which I hoped would actually release their ice pops when asked. And they did.
If you’re looking for some, you can find them online here. I’m off to figure out what else I can freeze and stuff with chocolate.
