When the kids and I are home for summer vacation, I usually slap down some cereal and milk and let them have at it. But when we’re at The Cabin…well, breakfast at The Cabin is an event.
It begins, usually, with my son making hot chocolate for everyone (Grandma’s got him trained, I tell you)…
And then, along with some fruit, we usually have one of the following:
Baked French Toast (we like this recipe because it’s one of the few you don’t start the night before)
Homemade Granola — good with milk for breakfast…or mixed into yogurt…or plain, hot out of the oven. You can also mix them into peanut butter protein balls (I add chocolate chips to the recipe…because I add chocolate chips to everything.)
I would imagine that, staying there a month, at some point I’m going to lapse back into our cereal-and-milk routine. But the first week or two will be good…
