This blog post is sponsored by Walgreens but all opinions are my own.
So everyone just went back to school.
And of course I made them all pose for pictures. Cheeeeeeese!
So every year at about this time, we get our school supplies. We replace worn-out shoes and outgrown clothes. We get new backpacks and lunchboxes for those who need them. And we get flu shots and make sure our immunizations are up-to-date.
It’s not lost on me that this is a huge privilege. For a few bucks, I have access to immunizations for my children (and me) that mothers in other countries would probably give their lives for. One in five children in the world still lack access to the life-saving immunizations I get so easily for my family. For children in areas without easy access to doctors and hospitals, immunizations are even more important.
So Walgreens is teaming up with the United Nation Foundation’s Shot@Life program to get these kids the protection they need. Through Walgreens Get a Shot. Give a Shot.®, for every flu shot or other immunization you get at Walgreens, you’ll help provide a life-saving vaccine. This is the third year they’ve teamed up, and so far Walgreens has donated 7 million vaccines to children in developing countries. They’re making a real and exciting difference… but of course there’s more to be done.
All you have to do is get your regular flu shot at Walgreens. That’s it. When you do, they’ll help provide a life-saving vaccine. It’s simple, and it’s something you can do every year for both your health, and that of a child you’ll probably never meet, but will know you have helped for the rest of their life.
Walgreens offers several different flu shots, so you can also talk to a pharmacist to determine which one might be best for you or your family.
These guys are noisy and messy and wiggly and creative and obnoxious and funny and in the span of 10 minutes, they can make me laugh hysterically and also want to run away forever. It pains me to think of parents who don’t have the option of being driven crazy by their healthy, happy children. Let’s help, shall we?
