Tomorrow’s the Sabbath. The Day of Rest. I’ll confess I’m terrible at observing it the way I should.
And when you’re a parent — especially a parent to a baby — your job becomes a 24-hour a day, 7-day a week enterprise.
But, man, I think we need a day of rest. A day to refresh our souls. To worship. To be thankful for blessings.
That’s going to look different for everyone. For me, it means trying next week to have homework and laundry done on other days so we don’t have to stress about them on Sunday (aside: I don’t really think Sunday has to be your day, either. Could be any day.)
I think it could be as simple as playing with your baby all afternoon. You know, just being there. Personally, we’re big fans of fitting a nap in if we can.
Happy Sabbath — however you observe it.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
