One of the advantages of a holiday road trip…even, say, a road trip during which the car transmission dies five hours from home even though said transmission is only two years old and the car begins smoking while driving down the road and you are forced to complete your trip in this:
is that there is plenty of time for knitting.
There. I’m trying to make lemonade out of one giant lemon, you see?
I did finish a dress for the littlest road-tripper, and I’m quite pleased with it.
The pattern is from a Dale Garn book I found at my favorite yarn shop. I knit it up using Dale of Norway Baby Ull yarn. I went down a size because the yarn was slightly bigger than called for in the pattern.
I loved working with this yarn! So soft…but it has some heft so I don’t think it will be easily destroyed by an active two-year old.
The edging is a special little detail, I think.
My ravelry notes are here if you want more information.
Ahhh — the feeling of a completed project that actually turned out well! I’m going to hold onto it for a bit…especially since our next task is retrieving our car. Which is now fixed. And is still five hours away.
