A Fun Knitting Kit and a Giveaway!

February 15, 2016 By Laura 6 Comments

(I was not paid for this post, but I did receive a free kit to review. Read on for a chance to win up to $100 in product from We Are Knitters!)

When my sister-in-law visited a few years ago, she pointed out that although I handknit afghans for each of my family members, on my own couch I had a cheap, generic blanket from a box store.

It’s true. I make stuff for other people all the time, but aside from two hats that I knit one winter, I don’t keep anything I knit.

This We Are Knitters knitting kit is fun and ends with a beautiful handknit blanket!

So when I was offered a chance to review a We Are Knitters kit, I decided this was going to be the blanket I kept.

The We Are Knitters kits come in large brown bags, and contain everything you need to make your project. Even if you have no knitting experience, you can get out your kit, check out their videos online (I taught myself to knit through a combination of books and youtube videos), and get to work on your first piece.

And I love this yarn. So fun and thick and wonderfully chunky. The kits also contain the beautiful wooden needles you’ll need to make your project. I think you could even leave them out, stuck in a ball of yarn, just as a decoration.

I made the Jake blanket — it knits up into a throw about the size of a lap blanket, and it’s going to keep my feet nice and toasty when I’m sitting on the couch this winter. I will say that I ordered the pink color, and while I do love this color, I think it veers more orangey than pinkish (those are official color terms, right?).

Along with blankets, they have a variety of hats, sweaters, and other things you can learn to knit — great patterns and kits for the rest of this winter! The chunky hats are just the cutest and I want all of them, in all the colors. And one of the bonuses of knitting with nice, big wool like this is that it knits up super-quick. This blanket didn’t take long at all to finish.

And the best part — I have a promo code and a giveaway for you! Enter PEACEBUTWAKQUIET (the “WAK” stands for “We Are Knitters,” see?) when you check out, and you get 15% off your order.

And enter below for a chance to win $100 in product from We Are Knitters! Contest ends Sunday the 13th. Winner will be able to pick a product on WeAreKnitters.com valued at less than $100, or you can choose a gift card for $100 to apply to whatever you wish to order. Good luck!

Just an FYI, your link on the entry to sign up for their mailing list is missing the colon after http. Some people may figure it out, some may not….
