My son came home from school yesterday and announced that he wanted to go shopping. And he wanted to buy each and every kid in his class a Christmas present. While I appreciate the sentiment, we can’t be buying 22 presents…so we settled on making candy trains to pass out instead.
Here’s what you need: Lifesaver rolls, individually wrapped Rolos, Hershey’s Kisses, and peppermint candies.
Glue the Hershey’s kiss to the top of the Lifesaver roll. Add a Rolo on the front and peppermints for wheels.
I was disappointed that I only found peppermints in the square wrappers — if they’d been twist-wrapped, we could probably have left the covers on. But we had to remove the wrapping to get proper wheels. Other than that, the rest of the train is safe to eat.
