I write about lots of kids’ activities here. I try to keep them uncomplicated and easy to do. But they still, generally, require you to spend a little time working with your kids on them. Sometimes that’s just not possible. Sometimes we have school drop-offs, and errands, and music lessons, and scouts, and other things and find ourselves with small amounts of unplanned time instead of an entire afternoon. That’s just life, and totally okay, too.
Here are a few ideas for things to do with kids in those small bits of unplanned time:
.) Play Chutes and Ladders (great for preschoolers!)
.) Read two books.
.) Make a paper airplane and fly it around the room.
.) Take a walk around the block.
.) Draw or color (have you colored recently? It’s oddly soothing.)
.) Give a piggyback ride
.) Write a letter to grandparents
.) Pop in to Starbucks (caffeine for you…kids’ drink for them…totally legit way to spend ten minutes)
.) Make a quick snack
.) Sit outside and eat your snack. Or just look at the world together and talk about it.
.) Make a Lego creation.
.) Play a round of Uno
.) Do a puzzle
.) Plant something (outside, if you’re lucky enough to have good weather. Inside in a seedling pot if not).
